The Imginarium of Doctor Parnassus là một câu chuyện thần kỳ thời hiện đại xoay quanh cuộc chiến đấu vì sinh mệnh giữa Tiến sĩ Parnassus và Quỷ Dữ Nick. Khi còn nhỏ, Parnasus đã được thiên phú cho một quyền năng đáng sợ: ông có thể điều khiển trí tưởng tượng của người khác. Trong một lần giao kèo ma quái, ông đã bán linh hồn cho Nick để đổi lấy sự trường sinh. Nhiều năm sau, khi phải lòng một cô gái trẻ, ông lại đánh đổi sự bất tử để lấy tuổi thanh xuân. Nhưng điều kiện cho cuộc trao đổi này thật nghiệt ngã. Khi con gái của ông tròn 16 tuổi, nó sẽ thuộc về Nick mãi mãi.
Ngày định mệnh đang đến gần trong nỗi lo lắng khôn nguôi của Parnassus. Tuy nhiên, Nick là một con quỷ ranh ma và thích bỡn cợt. Hắn thách thức Parnassus vào một cuộc thập tự chính độc nhất vô nhị: Ai là kẻ đầu tiên mê hoặc được cả năm linh hồn bất diệt của loài người sẽ toàn quyền điều khiển vận mạng cô con gái. Không hoang phí thời gian, Parnassus đã lập nên một nhóm thám hiểm cho riêng mình, những nhân vật dũng cảm với nhiều cá tính khác nhau. Họ sẽ chu du qua năm thế giới tưởng tượng đầy mầu nhiệm để cứu lấy gia đình Parnassus. Trong đoàn phiêu lưu còn có chàng thanh niên Tony. Người được tiên tri rằng sẽ mang lại sự sống hoặc cái chết cho Tiến sĩ Parnassus.
