http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/files/2011/01/ie_icon.jpgOur Microsoft expert, Alex Wilhelm (http://www.twitter.com/alex) is on the ground at Microsoft’s “Future of Productivity Council” in Redmond, Washington. He has just alerted us that Internet Explore 9 RC is set to launch on February 10th.
Two puzzle pieces fit nicely together: Today, Microsoft sent out invites to a major media event, where they will unveil Internet Explorer 9. The will be held in San Francisco on February 10th. And earlier this morning, the following screen shots leaked of Microsoft’s IE 9 build number .6018. Neowin (http://www.neowin.net/news/ie-9-escrow-build-leaks-out-ahead-of-public-release) reports that Microsoft is taking privacy to a new level by allowing the browser to block a website’s ability to use location based services.

IE9 RC is Microsoft’s latest attempt to compete in the browser marketplace as Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/) and Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome) continue to eat up marketshare.
